Roosters Hits Hornbeam!

31st May 2019

Rooster’s Brewing Co. have completed phase one of their move from Knaresborough to Hornbeam Park, with the opening of their brewery Taproom. Located on Fifth Avenue, on the southwestern corner of the business park the new bar boasts a spectacular viewing window into the brewery, as well as a superb south facing beer garden. A selection of Rooster’s beers are available in both cask and keg, whilst the taproom also stocks a selection of wines, gins, ciders and soft drinks.

The Taproom will be open every day, except Mondays and Tuesdays, opening from 4pm on Wednesday and Thursday and from noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Tom Fozard, Commercial Manager, who will oversee the Taproom, said “Having visited many brewery taprooms on trips to the US, I’m really excited that Rooster’s is now able to bring the concept to Harrogate. From running various events at our site in Knaresborough, we’re aware that consumers are increasingly interested in provenance and being able to sample beer fresh from its source forms part of that experience”.

The brewery is still under construction, with completely new brewing vessels, a steam boiler and grain handling equipment currently being installed. Oliver Fozard, Head Brewer is overseeing the installation and said “we’re really proud that all of our new equipment is being sourced from UK manufacturers – our aim is to get it fully commissioned as soon as possible, with the move from our current Knaresborough production site scheduled to take place over the next couple of months.”

The move is an ambitious one for Rooster’s, family-owned and proudly independent,  who have been based at Grimbald Park Knaresborough for 18 years, having originally been established on Claro Road in Harrogate in 1993. “We were faced with a major challenge as we outgrew our existing site”, commented Rooster’s Director, Ian Fozard, “as there is very little suitably located industrial land in the Harrogate area. We were looking for a larger space that also had the potential for a Taproom to showcase our beers to the public. Fortunately, the site at Hornbeam Park became available."

Pelsis - Testimonial

July 2017

Here is a lovely testimonial we received recently from Peter Mangion, MD at Pelsis in Knaresborough:

"We began working with Hornbeam Park Developments in 2011 when we decided to build a new Head Office facility with significantly enhanced office and warehouse space, keeping Pelsis in Knaresborough where the company has been based for many years.

Hornbeam worked closely with us from the outset and planned and delivered a building to our very detailed requirements, in terms of facilities and layout.

The building was finished within our planned timings which was very important to us as we consolidated three sites into the one.

We were delighted with the finished building, and the attention to detail which went into it, and its grounds, and Sterling House has been our flagship facility in Europe since occupation in April 2012.

Importantly, we have maintained a close working relationship with Hornbeam Park since taking possession of the building and any issues which we have faced have been dealt with quickly and professionally. and this approach has been of great value to us and underscores the feeling that this is more than “just a building” for us, but the home of our company, and its staff."

Tim Brear - Rugby Inspiration!

January 2016
If you're still feeling a bit low after the home nations' performances at last year's Rugby World Cup, here is a rugby story to inspire you for the New Year.

Next week Yorkshire-based financial planner Tim Brear, co-founder of Harrogate-based firm Brook-Dobson Brear, heads off to spend five weeks in Africa.

But rather than messing about watching cricket and tasting wine, like I did, or going on safari, rugby enthusiast Tim, who lives in Ilkley and coaches six to 16-year-olds at Otley RUFC, will be in Kenya and Uganda as a volunteer with rugby charity The Bhubesi Pride.

The former soldier, who played rugby at school, club, university and in the army, describes the trip as "one last hurrah using my experience as a volunteer for a charity".
The Bhubesi Pride ( is a charity using rugby to unite, empower and inspire children in Africa.
It was founded by former schoolteacher Richard Bennett who grew up in South Africa and who, Tim tells me, has family in Addingham.

Bhubesi Pride Foundation puts together teams of committed volunteers to carry out annual rugby coaching expeditions across Africa using the sport as a tool for education and development. A glance at the 2016 team that Tim will be part of shows that they will work in schools and villages in nine African countries in the coming weeks.

They are a varied bunch, ranging from young British rugby players being funded by the Bill McLaren Foundation to a Las Vegas-based rugby coach called CJ to a young woman who started playing tag rugby as a way of meeting new people when she moved to Paris.

I have no doubt Tim's trip will be a success and look forward to hearing about it on his return. He is one of those slightly annoying people who is good at whatever they put their mind to.

After rugby he took up marathon running and has completed races in cities around the world in impressive times.
If you are interested in supporting the charity, getting involved or even following in Tim's wake and volunteering, then more information is available at

I was going to describe Tim's firm, which is based on Hornbeam Park in Harrogate, as a wealth manager, but given he said they can look at my finances, then it's not the right description.

Welcome Acupuncture@Harrogate!

October 2013

At Acupuncture Harrogate our new Tenant, Jo Blenkinsop, offers caring acupuncture treatments that focus on the person not the condition.  Acupuncture helps the body to heal and rebalance and can be used to treat many conditions including back pain, osteoporosis of the knee, headache and more.
Patients with conditions ranging from anxiety to sleeplessness, PMS, menopause and IBS often seek support from acupuncture.  There are many more conditions acpuncture can treat so have at look at the website.
Acupuncture can be a very relaxing treatment and the only side effects can be tiredness or a slight 'bruisey' ache when the needle is in.  The needles are so fine, most people do not feel them go in.  Typically your first treatment will last an hour and a half, subsequent treatments are an hour.
Also on offer is cosmetic acpuncture which can restore the face's natural muscle tone and fill in fine lines leaving the face naturally refreshed looking.  Patients will see a difference after one treatment and with subsequent treatments the effects become more long lasting.  Unlike botox (TM) it is the patient's natural beauty that is enhanced without looking 'frozen'.  It is not a painful treatment and patients usually report feeling relaxed and calm afterwards.
Evening and weekend appointments are also available and you can have a 15 minute, no obligation chat by getting in touch with Jo:
